Music Production Pathway

Child A

Before Turntable Media, Child A had worked with two case workers without a breakthrough … From the first session, something shifted.

Before

Child A arrived disengaged and initially reluctant to open up. Having previously worked with two case workers without finding an approach that really connected with him, he was private and guarded about himself and his interests.

Turntable introduced him to music production as more than a hobby, showing him a creative pathway where his ideas, individuality and way of thinking could become something tangible.

What changed
  • 90% attendance across the programme, with 100% engagement during sessions.
  • Began sharing his music willingly, despite initially being very private about his work.
  • Started writing lyrics at home between sessions without prompting.
  • Completed three finished tracks that he was proud to use as part of his portfolio.
  • Developed a strong understanding of music production equipment and how to use it independently.
  • Demonstrated a noticeable increase in confidence and self-expression throughout his time at the studio.
  • Sustained engagement across all ten weeks and began developing a stronger sense of identity and direction.
Outcomes

Child A left the programme with three completed tracks, new creative and technical skills, and a growing belief in what he could achieve.

Since completing the programme, he has taken steps towards starting his own painting and decorating business, with the aim of using the income to help fund his music career.

What began as an alternative way to engage him has developed into something much bigger: a young person exploring his own ambitions, building practical skills and creating a route towards the future he wants.

More stories are coming.

As participants finish the programme, their stories are added here in the same anonymised format. Anything named or pictured is published only with written consent.
